Overview
The Chat feature in Bridge makes it easy to communicate securely with your members — all in one place. Bridge messaging is HIPAA-compliant, so you can feel confident that your conversations are private and protected.
All conversations are centralized within Bridge, helping your team stay organized and ensuring every interaction is documented and accountable.
Starting a Conversation
- Navigate to the Members section in the left-hand menu.
- Search for and select the member you'd like to message.
- Open their Client Page.
- Click the Chat option within their profile.
- If this is your first conversation with this member, click Start Conversation. If you've messaged them before, you'll see your existing thread here — just scroll through, reply, or continue the conversation.
- Type your message in the message field.
- Attach any files if needed.
- Click Send.
Once sent, the message will appear in two places: the member's Chat tab on their profile, and your Conversations inbox in the left-hand menu.
How Members experience Chat
When you send a message, the member will receive a notification in Companion letting them know they have a new message. From there, they can view all active conversations and reply directly.
💡 Note: If a member wants to reach out first, they can tap the Contacts icon in Companion to search for staff or other members they're connected with.

- Confirm you have messaging permissions

- Ensure message field is not blank
- Refresh the page and try again
- Confirm internet connection
